Mature Skin - Face

  • Please, let us begin by emphasizing that “Mature Skin” is not a “skin type” but rather the state in which our skin finds itself when it is no longer as springy, glowy, and forgiving as it once was. Mature skin includes dry, balanced, and oily skin. The unique nutritional needs of mature skin are such that we place it in its own category. We acknowledge that not all products are the best fit for every skin or skin type. We encourage you to “listen” to your skin daily. Some days your skin may be in dire need of loving attention; other days, it may be balanced and relaxed.

EvoQuelle offers a range of formulas designed to meet you and your skin, wherever you are.

    Cleanse

We do not propose that every person’s skin requires a formal morning cleanse. Skin can express differently, seemingly on its own whims. You also may not choose to wash off any goodness remaining on your skin from the previous night’s ritual.

If you choose a morning cleanse, we suggest one of 3 methods:

    1. “Rapid Mask” with either our Red Clay or White Clay mask. Blend dry mask as directed on the canister. Brush or spread with fingers over the skin. Massage face gently for 1-2 minutes, then rinse with warm water - do not let the mask dry on the skin. Pat dry. This method will gently exfoliate and lift debris and extra sebum from the skin while treating it with beneficial minerals and hydration. Follow with desired tonic, serum, and/or moisturizer.

    2. Crema Cleanse Goat Milk Face & Body Bar is a perfect starting point. Packed with organic oils and butters, this bar cleanses without stripping your skin. Since there is no added fragrance and no essential oils, it is extra gentle - even on very sensitive skin. Work up a bit of lather. Smooth over face and neck. Massage gently. Rinse with warm water. Pat dry. Follow with desired tonic, serum, and/or moisturizer.

    3. Steam. Rinse. Shock. Start with a thick face cloth. Wet with comfortably hot water and wring out. Place over face for 15 seconds to open pores and begin preparation for hydration steps. Repeat if desired. Follow with a warm rinse of water, then a cool rinse. Pat dry. Follow with desired tonic, serum, and/or moisturizer.

    Moisturize

1.Morrigan’s Folly is a solid choice for daily use on mature skin. If you tend to have dry, scaly patches or dark spots, we recommend adding a dab of Crone Oil to those places for extra-added emollient benefit, healing botanicals, and protection from the elements.

Morrigan’s Folly may be followed up with Tea in the Garden moisturizer if your skin is dehydrated.

    2. Fruit & Flowers is a great starting point if your face feels parched. Follow up with Tea in the Garden to seal in the moisture.

  • You made it through the day. Now what? The answer to this question hinges on how you feel and how much time you want to spend showing yourself some love.

The barest minimum should be a thorough cleanse to remove debris from the day that causes oxidative stress - and fine lines, wrinkles, and dull complexion.

    Short on time and energy?

Crema Cleanse Goat Milk Face & Body Bar is an easy, basic clean. See Morning Cleanse instructions above. Follow up with Harmony Face Tonic to remove the last of the day’s residue or with Out of the Ashes for an overnight reboot.

Have a bit more to give?

Reach for Gaia’s Embrace (or our super sensitive version, Naked Clean). Massage a few drops (or more!) into your face, neck, and décolletage. Spend a minimum of 1 minute on this step and up to 15 minutes for a deep clean. It’s safe for use around the eyes and mouth. Take a few moments to focus just on you. Trace the contours of your face and neck with the pads of your fingers. Wherever you feel some extra tension or tenderness, spend some extra time using long, slow strokes and gentle pressure. Take all the time you want…it just gets better! When ready, wet a nice thick cloth in comfortably hot water. Wring out the cloth and place it over the face and neck for 15 seconds, breathing in the aroma of the healing essential oils. Use a cloth to wipe the oil from the skin gently. Repeat if desired, wiping face, neck, décolletage, around the creases of nose and eyes, and the hairline. Follow with a warm rinse of water. If your skin tends to be oily, you may opt for a second cleanse with our Crema Cleanse Goat Milk Face & Body bar. Pat dry. Follow with a toner or tonic and serum or moisturizer as desired.

    Looking for more?

Skip the moisturizer and select one of our Balance Balms or Sapphire Solace Balm to give your skin a profoundly emollient and nourishing treatment. Follow up in the morning with a “Steam. Rinse. Shock” cleanse. Check out our Ingredients page to help decide which bioactive Balm ingredient meets your needs.

  • For Mature skin, we recommend either our Red Clay or White Clay mask. Both are very mild, offering gentle exfoliation, medium absorption, and beneficial minerals and micronutrients. White Clay, or Kaolin, is exceptionally mild and moisturizes as it deep cleans due to its unique properties. Red Clay mask, left on for 10-15 minutes, may be used twice a week. This is a different use from the “Rapid Mask” described in the Morning Cleanse above. Our White Clay Mask may be used 3-4 times per week. Follow directions on the canister for mixing each mask, rinse thoroughly, and follow up with serum and/or moisturizer.

  • Are you feeling “draggy” during the day? Lift your mood and boost your skin’s hydration with a spritz of Lemon Mist. If you have hit your proverbial wall, may we suggest a reset on your day? A light oil cleanse followed by Out of the Ashes or Harmony face tonic will give your skin and your spirit a lift.

To treat scaly patches or dark spots, we recommend Crone Oil, Sapphire Solace, or Carrot Seed Oil Balm 1-2 times per day until resolved.

Mature Skin - Body

  • A little goes a long way with our body butters, oils, and balms. They are specifically formulated to nourish and smooth while delivering an occlusive layer to protect the skin from trans epidermal water loss (TEWL) or dehydration. TEWL occurs when moisture escapes the body through the skin’s surface. It is important to remember that only moisture can moisturize. Our body butters and balms are anhydrous, meaning they do not contain water (moisture).

So, what good are they? Anhydrous butters, oils, and balms seal in the moisture already in or on the skin and prevent moisture loss from occurring. They also deliver a mighty whack of fatty acids and other nutrients our skin needs to function at its best. For the best performance of these anhydrous products, use them following bath or shower, on top of body oils which are used following bathing, or…we LOVE this…on top of one of our serums or face tonics. Out of the Ashes, Harmony, Fruit & Flowers, and Morrigan’s Folly are all exceptionally hydrating and perfectly suited to use on the body and the face. Apply a generous dollop of body butter or balm on top of one of our super hydrators and enjoy!

Crone Oil is a much lighter alternative to body butter. It delivers all the protection of body butter without the oily after feel.

  • We recommend using Surrender or Bless You Bath Salt & Ritual Cleanse weekly. Sprinkled into the bath, they detoxify the skin, relax the body, and feed the soul. Mixed with either Gaia’s Embrace or Naked Clean, they transform into a highly nourishing body scrub. Skin polished with the rich mixture of minerals, bioactive botanicals, and fatty acids is left silky and glowing. Dead skin, toxins, and rough spots are rinsed away.

  • We recommend keeping your favorite balm handy for spot touch-ups. Crone Oil is a valuable ally no matter where you need some extra attention. It soothes, smooths and conditions without leaving any greasy residue.

EvoQuelle offers a range of formulas designed to meet you and your skin, wherever you are.

Welcome,

We are delighted to have you here and would like to share a few insights before providing some recommendations.

Firstly, we don't insist that everyone needs a formal morning cleanse for their skin. Skin can exhibit varying needs, almost whimsically so. You might also choose not to wash away the nourishing remnants of your previous night's ritual.

Next, we understand that not everyone has ample time at the end of their day, but this is a vital reminder: Never go to bed without removing your makeup. If you don't wear makeup, your nighttime routine can afford a bit more flexibility.

Lastly, our EvoQuelle line of products continues to evolve, with upcoming additions including an array of luxurious creams, lotions, and high-performance serums designed to target specific needs. Stay tuned for these exciting developments!

In the meantime, may we humbly recommend...?

Dry

  • Cleanse

We recommend a similar preparation routine as for mature skin to start your day.

If you choose a morning cleanse, we suggest one of 3 methods:

    1. “Rapid Mask” with our White Clay mask. White Kaolin clay is super gentle and non-abrasive. It will attract moisture to your skin while gently lifting debris and dead skin cells from the surface and leaving behind beneficial minerals. Blend dry mask as directed on the canister. Brush or spread with fingers over the skin. Massage face gently for 1 minute, then rinse with warm water - do not let the mask dry on the skin. Pat dry.

    Moisturize

What can we say…? Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

    1. Hydrate from the inside. We can’t help much here except to encourage you from afar.

    2. Hydrate from the outside. Shake out a dime-sized puddle of Fruit & Flowers and spread it across your face, around your eye area, and neck/décolletage area if your skin is dry there. Press the elixir gently into your face. Allow a moment to dry.

    3. Lock in the hydration. Reach for Morrigan’s Folly. Be sure to give it a gentle shake before dispensing, as this bi-phase serum works best when both halves work together. Place a few drops into the palm of the hand and spread across the face and around the eye area, including neck and décolletage. Press elixir gently into the skin. You will be left “dewy” but dry after a moment.

If you prefer a silkier finish, Tea in the Garden is a beautiful option to use over Fruit & Flowers instead of Morrigan’s Folly.

    .

Remember to hydrate skin throughout the day using a facial mist like Lemon Mist.

  • Cleanse

We know you don’t always have a lot left at the end of the day, but this part is essential.

Pat dry.

    Moisturize

Follow with a toner or tonic and serum or moisturizer as desired. We recommend Out of the Ashes tonic followed by Crone Oil.

    Are you looking for more?

Skip the moisturizer and select one of our Balance Balms or Sapphire Solace Balm to give your skin a profoundly emollient and nourishing treatment. Follow up in the morning with a “Steam. Rinse. Shock” cleanse. Check out our Ingredients page to help decide which bioactive Balm ingredient meets your needs.

  • Face – You may use a White Clay face mask once or twice weekly. If so, we encourage you to add a few drops of Crone Oil or Gaia’s embrace to it when mixing. Additionally, we recommend only leaving it on for 5 minutes – do not allow the clay to dry on your face before rinsing thoroughly.

Body - We recommend using Surrender or Bless You Bath Salt & Ritual Cleanse weekly.

Using a mister like Lemon Mist is the perfect way to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day.

Balanced Skin

  • Cleanse

    Gotta love balance!

If you choose a morning cleanse, we suggest one of 3 methods:

    1. “Rapid Mask” with either our Red Clay or White Clay mask. Blend dry mask as directed on the canister. Brush or spread with fingers over the skin. Massage face gently for 1 minute, then rinse with warm water - do not let the mask dry on the skin.

Follow with a warm rinse of water, then a cold rinse. Pat dry. Follow with desired tonic, serum, and/or moisturizer.

    Moisturize

We love using Harmony Face Tonic, followed by Tea in the Garden. Harmony gives a clean sweep with a boost of hyaluronic acid and AHAs. Tea in the Garden boosts moisturizing components and botanicals to nourish your skin throughout the day. Please remember to use an SPF foundation for extra protection while using a product with AHAs.

  • You made it through the day. Now what? The answer to this question really hinges on how you feel and how much time you want to spend showing yourself some love.

No matter how balanced you are, the barest minimum should be a thorough cleanse to remove the debris from the day that causes oxidative stress - and, yes, fine lines, wrinkles, and dull complexion.

    Short on time and energy?

Crema Cleanse Goat Milk Face & Body Bar is an easy, basic clean. See Morning Cleanse instructions above. Follow up with White Witch to remove the last of the day’s residue. Finish a few drops of Morrigan’s Folly to maintain your lovely balance.

If your skin tends to be oily, you may opt for a second cleanse with our Goat Milk Face & Body bar. Pat dry. Follow with a toner or tonic and serum or moisturizer as desired. For balanced skin, we recommend Morrigan’s Folly or Fruit & Flowers. Dab a bit of Crone Oil or one of our specialized balms over any dry spots or where you would like extra conditioning overnight.

  • Face - Try any one of our four clay masks. We recommend that the Bentonite mask be used only once per week. White mask may be used daily if using “Rapid Mask” method or leaving only 5 minutes on the skin before rinsing. Red and Green Mask may be used 2-3 times per week. Please remember to moisturize after every use of clay.

Body - We recommend using Surrender or Bless You Bath Salt & Ritual Cleanse weekly. Sprinkled into the bath, they detoxify the skin, relax the body, and feed the soul. Mixed with either Gaia’s Embrace or Naked Clean, they transform into a highly nourishing body scrub. Oil-Rich Skin

  • A few things to clarify before we make recommendations:

There is nothing inherently “wrong” with oil-rich or “oily” skin. While it may be said that too much of a good thing can be…well…not so much of a good thing, there is a bright side. Oil-rich skin can be encouraged to produce less of the precious sebum that some of us never seem to have enough of. A few things need to be brought together for a change to occur, and some need to be kept very far away.

Let’s start with what we keep away from oil-rich skin:

    1. Alcohols and peroxides strip the skin barrier and dry out skin the so that it produces more oil to compensate for the damage. Some types of alcohol are beneficial and do not dry out skin or strip the skin barrier. EvoQuelle products do not contain ANY alcohols which damage the skin barrier.

    2. Frequent washing, especially with products designed for “oily” skin. Washing too often can strip the skin barrier of essential oils and nutrients, leaving it no choice but to produce even more sebum to compensate. Many products labeled for “oily skin” contain harsh ingredients which strip the skin barrier, causing more challenges.

    3. Scrubbing and rubbing. While exfoliation is essential to maintaining healthy skin, mechanical exfoliation is not in the best interests of oil-rich skin.

How to encourage your skin to produce less sebum:

    1. Stay hydrated, inside and out. If your skin feels hydrated, it will be less likely to fall into panic mode and produce extra oil.

    2. Cleanse your face morning and night – gently. Massage your face. Don’t scrub.

    3. Use hydrating, clarifying, and chemically exfoliant ingredients and avoid heavy occlusives. This means hyaluronic acid, AHA’s, and BHA are your friends. Butters and some oils…not so much. However, this is not to say that you should forego the universally beneficial oil cleanse. A good oil cleanse can help decongest the skin and dissolve excess oil residue while laying down a balanced array of fatty acids.

    Morning

    Cleanse

If you do choose a morning cleanse, we suggest one of 3 methods:

    1. “Rapid Mask” with White Clay mask. Kaolin clay is gentle, non-stripping, and polishing rather than abrasive. Blend dry mask as directed on the canister. Brush or spread with fingers over the skin. Let sit on the face for 1 minute, then give a gentle massage with wet fingers for 30 seconds and rinse with warm water - do not let the mask dry on the skin.

    Moisturize

Out of the Ashes or Fruit & Flowers is recommended for deep hydration and nourishment. Tea in the Garden may be used sparingly to provide extra protection with no heavy finish. Be sure to wear SPF anytime you use AHAs.

  • Cleanse

The barest minimum should be a thorough cleanse to remove debris from the day that causes oxidative stress - and fine lines, wrinkles, and dull complexion.

    Short on time and energy?

Crema Cleanse Goat Milk Face & Body Bar is an easy, basic clean. See Morning Cleanse instructions above. Follow up with White Witch tonic to remove the last of the day’s residue or with Out of the Ashes for an overnight reboot.

Reach for Gaia’s Embrace (or our super sensitive version, Naked Clean). Massage a few drops (or more!) into your face, neck, and décolletage. Trace the contours of your face and neck with the pads of your fingers. Wherever you feel some extra tension or tenderness, spend some extra time using long, slow strokes and gentle pressure. Take all the time you want…it just gets better! Wet a nice thick, soft cloth in comfortably hot water when ready. Acne-Prone Skin

  • Cleanse

We recommend you always choose a morning cleanse for acne-prone skin. We suggest one of 3 methods:

    1. “Rapid Mask” with any of our four masks. Blend dry mask as directed on the canister. Brush or spread with fingers over the skin. Let sit on the face for 1 minute, then give a gentle massage with wet fingers for 30 seconds and rinse with warm water - do not let the mask dry on the skin. Pat dry. Repeat if desired. Follow with a warm rinse of water, then a cool rinse. Pat dry. Follow with desired tonic, serum, and/or moisturizer.

  • We recommend any of our Balms to soften, smooth, and heal cracked skin. Balms are particularly effective after a bath and exfoliation with a pumice. Apply your favorite to affected areas. If applying to your feet, wearing clean socks afterward is helpful. We like Basic Balm or Sapphire Solace best for cracked skin.
